Child protection consultant · Ireland
Independent child protection consultant. Policy, review, DLP and online training.
Michael Lynch is an independent child protection consultant working with organisations across Ireland. A risk assessment tells you what your organisation is exposed to. The policies set what your people must do, the review checks whether they are doing it, and the training makes sure they know how.
The work
Four things, and where each one starts.
Policy development
Your risk assessment, the child safeguarding statement it produces, and the procedures the statement names
Independent review
An independent account of what happened, or of where your safeguarding stands — written so you can act on it and stand over it
DLP training
Preparing the person your safeguarding statement names as the first point of contact, and whoever covers when they are away
Training your people
Everyone who works with children assessed on their judgement rather than their memory, online. Opening shortly
Who this is for
Anybody providing a relevant service to children.
The Children First Act 2015 applies far more widely than most organisations realise. Crèches and preschools, sports clubs and county boards, schools, youth groups, hotels and leisure centres running children's activities, dance and drama schools, and charities working with families.
If you are unsure whether it applies to you, that is a reasonable first question and it costs nothing to ask.

Who you would be working with
Fifteen years leading Ireland's national child protection unit.
Senior Investigating Officer with An Garda Síochána, leading three national units: the National Child Protection Unit, the Sexual Crime Management Unit and the Online Child Exploitation Unit. Ireland's National Expert to Interpol and Europol on child safeguarding.
Safeguarding policy developed with Tusla, the HSE and three government departments. M.Sc. in Child Protection and Welfare, Trinity College Dublin. More about Michael

Tell Michael what your organisation does and what you already have. He will tell you what you actually need, including if that is nothing.
- Whether the Children First Act 2015 applies to you
- Which of the four pieces of work you need, if any
- What it would cost, and what it would not
